| wow how long has it been...
I love most of my students, but lately I have been feeling that I am the problem: I feel that I am a mediocre teacher. I see other teachers around and i really feel that I suck at giving my students what they need.

| So it's been more than a while. I had my tonsils removed: they were constantly bothering me and they grew to be so large, that they were giving me breathing problems and they were almost touching. But recovering is a real pain. I am on a diet of brothy soup, applesauce and water. I can't stomach pudding, icecream or even watered down milk shakes. Rita's water ice is my only comfort, as long as its not orange, lemon, lime, tangerine or (my favorite) mango. But everything else is fine, school starts in 3 weeks, my kids are already booked for two big public shows and enromllment in the music program has almost doubled. Of course, I am the entirety of the music department, but I might get some help from some Temple grads, so here's hoping. and (for now) slurpping. | | |
| So... The quickest update every in life..... 1. bought a car. a little green volvo, it is totally a teacher car and has a two body/full quartet trunk. 2. The baby that I nanny ate some banana nut bread, and then broke out in really bad hives and swelling. I was in the ER with him and his 4 year old brother for 2 hours. That is the scariest thing ever in life. 3. New teacher orientation starts in two weeks. I have yet to write my first few lessons. Maybe I should do that. 4. My sisters wedding is basically all planned:) And now we have to work on the Bridal shower which will be in 3 weeks. Scary! 5. I have off Wednesday - Sunday off right before I go to the new teacher orientation, and I need something to do that will be restful but not boring, and rejuvinating but not exhausting. Any suggestions? | | |
| So... Today I handed in my Music Program Proposal. It is 28 pages long, it covers 7 courses and I am so glad that it is done. I feel 100 hundred pounds lighter, actually I am only 22.5 lbs. lighter, but now I can just focus on getting my materials and units together. Also yesterday my favorite cousin and my best friend threw me a surprise 25th birthday. tomorrow is my birthday, but with all the wedding things going on for my sister, I was sure that we weren't going to be able to do anything. But my best friend and cousin weren't going to let that happen. It was so great! And they even told people that instead of gifts, to please give me money so that I can buy a car. And people listened. If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, just let me know:) As for a car, there is a strong possibility, but I want to be smart and make sure that I pray about it. I want to have my mom's mechanic look at it before we go forward with the purchase. So there you go, that's me. | | |
| So..... Today I had a meeting with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the High School that I am to be teaching at in the Fall. I was told by the secretary that we were going to discuss next years curriculum in the music program. The discussion went like this: "Hi, thanks for coming in today. I wanted to talk about the curriculum for the music classes. Right now what you have in front of you is basically a blank piece of paper." A blank piece of paper!!!! Really it wasn't blank, what was written on it was the outline for how this school writes its curriculum plans for all their courses. So I now have 15 days to write the curriculum for both Choral and Instrumental music, a curriculum that will be the foundation for myself and a very unique charter school. No Pressure | | |
